Brian Gemmell - Teaching Professional

Brian, who turned professional in 1989 after a successful amateur career, has been associated with Brighouse Bay Golf club for a number of years, both as the official Scottish Golf Union coach to the South of Scotland Youth Squad who are sponsored by Gillespie Leisure Ltd, owners of the Brighouse Bay Golf Complex, and as a coach in his own right, running Golf Schools, Golf Camps and Short Game Schools at the Brighouse Bay course.

After earning his PGA qualification in 1994, Brian took up a position as Head Teaching Professional for two years at Golf Centre Ismaning, Munich, Germany. He then returned to Scotland to take up his present position at The Pines Golf Centre, Dumfries, where he is Head of Golf Instruction.

Brian works with beginners to international level players, coaches four County Association teams, is South of Scotland coach, and has coached at national level.

He believes video swing analysis to be an important tool in teaching his clients, as he feels visual learning is essential. To assist his students in understanding their golf swing, Brian uses the V1 pro coaching system. Taking into consideration the importance of “the mind” in the modern game, he qualified as an NLP Sports Practitioner in 2003.
